Meet the blogger – Christos

Hello everyone!
My name is Christos Vogiatzakis, I am a PhD student in the field of cell biology of cancer and it is very nice to be part of the blogging community.

I come from Greece, from a small city in the suburbs of Athens. From a young age, I was curious about how the world around us works, and as time went by, my interest became more focused on understanding how our bodies function. By my teenage years, I was already certain that I wanted to deepen my knowledge in the field of medical science. This led me to pursue a degree in Pharmacy, a five-year bachelor’s program that was highly interdisciplinary, combining courses in chemistry, biology, and medicine. Being exposed to many different aspects of science sparked my curiosity and made me want to stay longer.

At the end of my first degree, I applied for one of the Erasmus+ internship positions offered by my university, and that’s how my journey in Sweden began. During my internship, I applied and was accepted into the master’s programme in toxicology at KI, which extended my stay abroad much longer than I had initially planned. Coming from Southern Europe, adjusting to life in Scandinavia was a true Odyssey, but as I’m now approaching Ithaca, it’s clear that the adventure was worth it.

Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn or Instagram, I will be more than happy to hear from you.
