12 Days of (KI) Christmas with BioRender
It came to my surprise recently that several colleagues of mine did not know about a tool that I have come to take for granted. BioRender, an online platform filled with scientific figures and ready-to-edit templates, is a user-friendly alternative to graphics programs for those who want to get their message across clearly but without much hassle.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with BioRender, here is a quick introduction to their figures and templates…in the spirit of Christmas!

The 12 Days of (KI) Christmas
On the first day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
A mouse without antibodies.
On the second day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the third day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the fourth day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the fifth day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the sixth day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Six worms a-laying
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the seventh day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Seven fish a-swimming
Six worms a-laying
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the eighth day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Eight pipettes pipetting
Seven fish a-swimming
Six worms a-laying
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the ninth day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Nine neurons firing
Eight pipettes pipetting
Seven fish a-swimming
Six worms a-laying
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the tenth day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Ten tubes a-spinning
Nine neurons firing
Eight pipettes pipetting
Seven fish a-swimming
Six worms a-laying
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the eleventh day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Eleven beakers breaking
Ten tubes a-spinning
Nine neurons firing
Eight pipettes pipetting
Seven fish a-swimming
Six worms a-laying
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
On the twelfth day of Christmas
My PI gave to me:
Twelve cells a-singing
Eleven beakers breaking
Ten tubes a-spinning
Nine neurons firing
Eight pipettes pipetting
Seven fish a-swimming
Six worms a-laying
Five Chemis-trees
Four suspicious colonies
Three clathrin snowmen
Two new projects
And a mouse without antibodies.
