Meet the Blogger – Hager Saleh
Hello, curious minds! I’m Hager Saleh, and I’m thrilled to be here. I am PhD student, while also working as a pharmacovigilance professional at a company in Stockholm, Pharmacovigilance, in essence, is the science and activities related to the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problems. It plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines throughout their lifecycle, from development to post-market surveillance. My PhD studies at Karolinska Institute focus on improving medicine usage focusing on antibiotics resistance.
Originally from Alexandria, Egypt, I’ve called Sweden home for the past four years. Before that, Saudi Arabia was my home for eight years. I’ve pursued my passion for education, earning degrees in Health Informatics, Pharmacovigilance, and Hospital Administration. Before my current roles, I was a lecturer of Health Services Management in Saudi Arabia and worked as a hospital pharmacist in Egypt. These experiences have shaped my understanding of healthcare systems and fueled my desire to make a difference.
I have studied health informatics here at Karolinska Institute, during that time, I was also deeply involved in the students’ activities, such as serving as the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME) students’ representative, a board member in the Public Health Section, and the chairperson of Swedish Network for International Health (SNIH). Additionally, I volunteered for CHaSE Stockholm and had the privilege of being the attaché manager for the Students’ Nobel Nightcap, the official after-party of the Nobel Prize Banquet. As a passionate advocate for student engagement and representation, I currently serve as the Ph.D. student representative for Globelife, which advocates strengthening collaboration through research and training in the field of global health both within and between Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet.
When I’m not busy with research and work, I love exploring the world. I’ve visited 22 countries and counting! Nature photography is another passion of mine, along with visiting museums, volunteering at TEDx Stockholm, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
Some of you may recognize me from my previous participation in this blog. You can find my previous post.
I’m excited to share my experiences and insights with you all. Let’s embark on this journey together, exploring the fascinating intersection of research, travel, and personal interests.
Thank you for welcoming me back to this wonderful community of thinkers and adventurers!
